Patient preparation checklists

Organise your questions, medical records and practical arrangements before your consultation or surgery.

Consultation checklist

  • Write down your main concern and when it began.
  • List medicines, supplements, allergies and previous operations.
  • Gather relevant radiographs, scans and reports.
  • Describe what matters most to you: function, breathing, appearance or a combination.
  • Ask about alternatives, risks, recovery and follow-up.

Questions before rhinoplasty

  • How are my nasal breathing and internal structures assessed?
  • What can realistically change given my skin, bone and cartilage?
  • Why is the proposed approach suitable for me?
  • What are the risks, limitations and possible reasons for revision?
  • How long should I allow before an important event or travel?

Getting ready for surgery

  • Follow the centre’s instructions for tests, medicines and fasting.
  • Arrange transport and help at home.
  • Prepare suitable food and the supplies specifically recommended.
  • Keep the centre’s telephone number and follow-up date accessible.
  • Tell the team about a new illness or medicine before you attend.

Keep a simple recovery note

Record medicine times, fluids, symptoms and questions you want to raise. Use your discharge instructions to understand what to expect and when to contact the team. A written note is useful; it is not a diagnostic score or a substitute for urgent medical attention.
